Long time patrons of Cipollina will quickly notice that there have been some changes at this venerable Central Austin eatery, a quirky and popular neighborhood "hangout" nestled in the oak trees of West Lynn Street. It no longer opens early in the morning, the food display units are gone, replaced by comfortable seating along the familiar old Cipollina bar, and there's no more Tango night. But  in many other ways nothing has changed at all! Cipollina is still the great neighborhood place, and it still attracts diners from throughout Austin. It still has that comfy urban feel, and its patrons run the gamut from young to old, students to business leaders, Now opening at 11 a.m., Chef Parker White's menu is eclectic, and his cooking superb. Starters include soups like stracciatelle, a delicious Italian egg drop concoction with tomatoes and baby spinach, escargots bourguignon, and an international variety of salads include duck confit. Sandwiches run from the popular Cipollina BLT to the more exotic lamb and braised onion, and the kitchen serves eight varieties of wonderful thin and crispy pizzas. In fact the pizza Happy Hour from 3:30 to 5:30 daily is unique in Austin. Delicious beef, seafood and pork entrees set diners up for a perfect end to a great meal: tiramisu, orange cheesecake and other sweet somethings. A hearty selection of beers and wines can complement any meal. So Cipollina veterans should drop by to see the new twists; and first timers should come enjoy this ultimate Central Austin kitchen.
